All you need to know before taking the RTA Driving Test in UAE

RTA driving test is mandatory to clear and get a driving license in the UAE. Everyone applies for the driving test, but everyone cannot clear the test on the first attempt. The government of the UAE is very strict in road safety-related matters. The driving license is provided only to efficient and proficient drivers. A driving license test is conducted to verify the driving skills of the driver by the Road Transport Authorities. 

The test that RTA conducts is difficult to clear but it is not impossible to clear the driving test. It is significant that before you go for the test understand what is expected from you and how you are preparing yourself for it. The driving schools offer courses that cover all the aspects of the RTA drive test. The driving school officers provide driving test tips which are helpful in clearing the test. 

RTA Theory test

The RTA UAE theory test will be conducted by the authorized driving school and you have to clear the test. You should have a valid Emirates ID, passport size photograph and pay the required fees as prescribed. 

The theory test will have 35 questions and you have to answer the questions. The questions will be related to road driving, road signs, road safety and driving behavior questions. 

The test will be into 3 segments, 

• The first seventeen questions will be related to traffic. You should answer eleven questions to pass this segment.
• The second segment will have 18 questions. These questions will be related to the driving license. You should clear 12 questions right to pass the second segment. Once you pass these two segments you will be eligible for the next test.
• In the third segment, a risk recognition test is done. This test is a series of videos that shows different conditions. The questions asked will be related to the game plan on tackling the risks. The third segment will be conducted through a touch screen computer. There are two language options given to the participants. English and Arabic are widely used but any participant who is not familiar with these languages will choose the oral exam. 

RTA Driving Theory Test Checklist

The practice of theory test is required to clear the RTA Dubai or other emirates driving theory test. First, a theory test is conducted and you have to clear the test and later you have to go for the driving test. You should pass the driving test conducted by the RTA. For passing the driving theory test you have to do the following. 

• Follow the instructions given to you by the driving school authorities and attend the driving courses. 
• On your phone download the RTA driving test app.
• Attend mock tests related to RTA Dubai, UAE driving theory 
• Start your driving test practice, start from the easy test then move on to the tougher driving test levels. 
• Practice all the driving tests which are available on the RTA app. This will enable you to become a master of the subject. 
• In the driving test app under the fine section review and enhance your knowledge about road rules violation penalties. 

RTA Road Test

This is the final test and most challenging task during the process of getting the license. In this RTA test, you have to prove to the officer that you are capable of driving and worthy to get a license. You will be having only ten to twelve minutes to impress the testing officer. 

Since this is a practical test you should be having thorough driving experience. Be mentally prepared for the test and for the driving test ensure to carry Emirates ID, photographs as required, a driving file and a payment copy of the road test fee. 

On the driving test day, your name will be called and follow the instructions given by the officer. Drive confidently and show your driving skills to clear the test. 

RTA Driving Road Test Checklist

Below is the RTA driving test checklist which you should prepare for the license test.   

• Ensure that Doors are closed
• Adjusting mirrors and seats is recommended
• Wear Seat belt
• Be aware of operating the window wipers
• Be aware of operating the vehicle lights
• Check if the engine is able to start
• Horn Check
• Check and adjust the mirrors
• Adjust and check all mirrors so that it is easy for indicators and apply the brake

Things to keep in mind while Lane Change

• Drive on the road gaps without hesitation but mind you space
• Do not move into small gaps as it would become difficult to turn
• Do not reduce speed when not required
• Keep a Steady move
• Check the vehicles behind before lane change
• Do not take a sudden turn

Apart from what is mentioned above, do not overtake your vehicle in a restricted area and don't miss to bypass a car. Once you change your lane and move towards your way remember to return back to the correct lane. Using the right signal while taking turns is mandatory. Signal during the lane change. It is also important to issue the right signal at the right time. The authorities keep a close eye on these aspects during the driving test. Do not give indicators in one direction and drive in another direction, this will create confusion to the driver behind and may lead to accidents. 

When you are near to taking a turn, do not press the clutch pedals with force during a curve and do not apply brake hard. Keep in mind that you should watch your speed when taking the turn, it should not be too slow or too quick. 

Precautions to take while Driving Test

Driving carefully is very important. You should be neither too slow nor too fast. You should drive according to the road conditions, speed limits and follow the signboards. Do not release the clutch suddenly and drive on the single lane. It is recommended to use the right lane and don’t drive closely to the curbs. Driving on the complete left or driving towards the complete right is not recommended. 

Change gears carefully and smoothly, use the right gear and do not switch to neutral while you are driving. After you stop the car make sure that it is not in gear. Keep sufficient distance away from other vehicles when you are driving and also when you stop your vehicle. If there are other vehicles, keep sufficient distance and park your vehicle. 

Parking your car

In this RTA parking test, it is important to note that you should not stop your car unnecessarily on the road. Align your car wheels within the stop line. Authorities check if you have stopped in the right position or not. Once you stop your vehicle make sure that the car is stable and stopped. Whenever required, use a handbrake to be more confident and safe.  

In real-time when you are driving, give way to the pedestrians when they are moving on the roads. Give space to the other vehicles to move and do not stop unnecessarily. For turning checks, you should start from the traffic lane. Move your car along with the road marks. As per the instructions on-road travel on the lanes. Stop your car as per the road sign in one lane. 

When you're stopping the car, follow the right lane and enter. Do not stop the car on layby lines. Keep your car in the middle of parking. Be cautious and do not hit the curb.
