Healthcare professionals who want to continue their careers in the United Arab Emirates should have a DHA (Dubai Health Authority) license. The license is issued by the Health Regulatory Department of the Dubai Health Authority. All the professionals in the healthcare industry should apply for the license and clear the skill test and the assessments to obtain the license.
Dubai Health Authority is a government body that supervises the health care department in Dubai, UAE. The health regulatory department is an exclusive wing that issues licenses assessing the skills and qualifications ensuring that they provide quality healthcare services to the people. Professionals who require DHA license to work in Dubai include and not restricted to:

How to obtain DHA License?
To obtain DHA license you have to follow the below steps:

Step 2: Create a Sheryan Account
Step 3: PSV and CBT Assessment
Step 4: Registration

Step 6: Activate the Professional License
Step 1: Self Assessment
In the process of obtaining the DHA License, the first thing you need to do is self-assessment. For doing self-assessment you need to visit the Shreyan self-assessment portal and enter the required information according to your profession and submit.
Once you have completed filling the information the portal will provide you with the details of eligibility for the Dubai Medical registry. If you are eligible to obtain the license, the system allows you to proceed further into the next steps. If you are not eligible then you have to choose for the manual review of your assessment profile. For a manual review, you should submit your application online and you have to pay the fee AED 200. Manual review may take up to 10 days.

Step 2: Create a Sheryan Account
The Sheryan is the name that is given to DHA’s online licensing system for healthcare professionals. Shreyan account is the online licensing system for the Health regulation department under the Dubai Health Authority. Sheryan account is for all the healthcare professionals and facilities. It is for all the licensing transactions and for all payments where online transactions are processed, manual transactions are not accepted anymore under sheryan accreditation.
In the DHA licensing process, you should create a personal id on the Dubai Health Authority Sheryan portal. Visit the DHA Single Sign-on portal and register your new account.
You have to enter your details about your name, nationality, email address and other information. Once you complete filling the registration form, click on register. You will receive authentication details via email.
For better navigation experience in Sheryan account creation or applying to Sheryan Services, it is advised to use google chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser on your personal computer or laptop.
Step 3: PSV and CBT Assessment
Once the eligibility conditions are met for the Dubai Health Authority license the professionals should get Primary Source Verification (PSV) and if required should clear the CBT assessment. CBT assessment is done through a third-party service provider.
Primary Source Verification (PSV) via DATAFLOW
The Dubai Health Authority has an agreement with the DataFlow group to work together on professional applicants. This is a partnership between Dubai healthcare sector and the DataFlow group.
A thorough check is done on the applicant’s educational background and the merits of the professionals who submit a DHA license form. The checks are done to make sure that only genuine profiles enter into the Dubai Medical registry.
CBT Assessment via PROMETRIC
For professionals such as doctors, dentists, and nurses, the Dubai Health Authority may require a CBT assessment. This assessment is conducted by Prometric, which is an independent examination board. This board assesses the skills and knowledge levels of the professionals.
The professionals who have cleared Prometric CBT assessment and PSV review can move on to register for a DHA license in Dubai.
Step 4: Registration
Once the assessments are completed the professionals can now formally process the license application. Applicants can register on DHA Sheryan, by clicking on the register a professional and providing relevant information.
Once the details are provided, you have to upload the documents and pay the registration fee AED 200 and submit. Once you submit the application and register, DHA will review your application along with the CBT and PSV results. DHA will decide on whether to approve the application or reject the application or return the application for missing or additional information.

Step 5: Oral Assessment
The successful professionals whose application gets approved will have an oral assessment. Depending on the position applied by the professionals, DHA may take the oral assessment. This process is done through a scheduled date.
The scheduled date of assessment is intimated to the applicants and the applicant has to pay a prescribed fee. Once the application fee is paid the applicant can take the assessment and should pass the exam.
Step 6: Activate the Professional License
Once you clear the oral assessment you are registered as a DHA professional. You have to activate the DHA professional license. Using your Shreyan account you can activate the professional license.
You have to apply for DHA license activation and submit an offer letter and malpractice insurance certificate. License activation fees should be paid, after the activation, the Dubai Health Authority will give an interim license. This interim license can be used by the professionals until the original license is delivered.
What are the documents required for the license?
Below are the documents that you need to submit for the license in the initial processing.
- Latest Passport size photograph
- Passport copy
- Education certificates
- Experience certificate
- Practice license or registration
- Good Standing Certificate (GSC)
- For surgeons, a two years surgical logbook
- Medical fitness certificate for professionals who are aged 65 and above. Medical fitness test can be done at any visa medical centers in Dubai
If your DHA license application is approved then you have to submit a malpractice insurance certificate from recruiting facility and Offer letter from recruiting facility.
How to renew DHA License?
A DHA License is valid for one year from the date of its issuance. Professionals can renew their license by applying for renewal three months prior to the date of expiry. Professionals who are willing to stay and work in Dubai must possess a license/registration and also renew them accordingly.
They have to provide details of updated experience and qualifications details during the renewal. Below are the documents required for renewal of the license.

You can renew your DHA license by uploading your documents and paying DHA license renewal fees. Once the DHA approves your renewal, the medical license will get automatically renewed. The license will be sent to you via courier.
